At Park Street, all the classes have been learning about the ‘Zones of Regulation’. This is a useful way of thinking about and categorising the emotions we feel, as humans! As part of the programme, children learn to put together a toolkit for regulating their behaviour, when they feel strongly affected by particular emotions. They will be developing a range of strategies to help them, including regulating their breathing, listening to music, doing a physical activity like trampoling or going for a walk, counting objects etc. The attached leaflet (Zones-for-parents) gives you some more information about this approach. Please ask your children about it, and try some of the ideas at home if you can. It is always helpful when children’s learning is reinforced in all areas of their lives!
