On Thursday, Woodpecker and Eagle class took part in a celebration of Easter at St Clement’s Church. The service began with our school bell-ringers ringing the bells, as the rest of the children processed to the church with palm branches, a cross and thurible with incense. The Easter story was told using songs and stories, within the format of a communion service. Children from Eagle Class performed the readings, whilst children from Woodpecker Class enhanced the service by singing a mass setting and some hymns that they had practised with Alex Berry, organist and choirmaster at Great St Mary’s Church. Everybody joined in with some congregational hymns, including ‘He who would Valiant be gainst all disaster’. The service was at times moving and also joyfully celebrational! Many thanks to Rev’d Day, Mr Berry, Ms Beringer, and all the Park Street staff for helping to make this a memorable occasion.
