We have been lucky enough to be selected to have designated support from the Mental Health Support Team (MHST).  We have an allocated small team who will work with us to provide 3 different services:

1 – Working directly with parents so that you feel better able to support your children with mild-moderate mental health difficulties – anxiety or behaviour difficulties. This would be an 8 week course involving six 1:1 sessions.  This could be 1:1 (1 set of parents and 1 practitioner) or a small group of families as requested by us as a school.  This work is starting in the summer term and will be carried out by our trainee mental health and well being practitioner.  They do not work directly with children as research shows that working with parents is more effective.  These sessions could be in school, online or at Brookfields hospital on Mill Road.

2 – Provision of whole school mental health support in the forms of workshops, assemblies, small group work – for groups of children, staff and/or parents on a wide range of themes – e.g.   online safety, resilience; transition to secondary; relationships and friendships; self-esteem.

3 – Provision of a named clinician who can support with more complex mental health needs and signpost and liaise with other agencies.

Please contact myself or Mrs Shankland, via the Office,  if you feel that you would be interested in being involved in the support for parents.
