Five Teaching and Mealtimes Assistants and I attended training by Jenny Mosely on Thursday, to help us to create calmer lunchtime experiences for children.

We have already found that our new hall floor and furniture is creating a more positive social atmosphere for the children as they eat. We are intending to involve the children in supporting us as Dining Hall Helpers and, once a week, we will be having a ‘Golden Table’ for those who show good manners and quiet voices.

A wider variety of playground games, songs and activities will be used to help the children keep busy at playtimes and on the Green.  The photograph above shows some of us playing ‘Who’s got the ball?’ More equipment for playtime and lunchtime will also be arriving soon; there will be a ‘craze a week’. Please discuss games and songs you used to play with your children – it would be wonderful to have some from around the world!
