Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to our new newsletter page! The school’s news will be published here every fortnight from now on, in place of the fortnightly pdf newsletter. Please remember to check the website for the updates. A link will be sent out via email, when the newsletter is updated.

Please also check our important dates attachment on the homepage or at the right of this page (desktop) or foot of the page (phone). The ‘Important Dates’ document is updated regularly, as more opportunities are booked

Parents’ Evenings are next week, beginning on April 26th. Please sign up for your slot on the Arbor Parent Portal, if you haven’t already done so. Contact the office if you are having any difficulty with this.

We are really hoping that we may be able to run some trips this term, beginning with Eagles possibly visiting the Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow on 19th May. We are also planning a ‘Curriculum Enrichment Week’ for the week beginning 5th July. We are waiting for more Covid-19  guidance to see what we might be able to do – hopefully each class will have a trip, even if it is local.

Owl Class have been learning about Wales and dragons this week. I was really lucky to have the chance to teach them on Monday and Tuesday, and we learned about lots of different dragons, from the wonderful book ‘Tell me a Dragon’, by Jackie Morris. We made ‘junk-modelled’ dragons, and they have been writing about dragons with Mrs Macdonald for the rest of the week. It is fantastic to see the progress they are making with their writing! Please see the pictures below, including the children sharing their work during Collective Worship on Jesus Green!

Eagle Class have been learning about methods of printing, and were experimenting with potato prints when I visited the class. They had some interesting results, finding out which bits to cut away to create their designs!

Finally, Flamingo and Owl Classes had the chance to participate in an ‘Under the Sea’ drama workshop this week, with “Perform”. As you can see from the pictures below, they had a good time! Please also see the details below, if you would like your child to follow this up with further workshops out-of-school.

Please scroll down to see the posts below, regarding other items of interest, including Stars of the Week!

Best wishes,

Sarah Hawker
