Dear Parents and Carers,
As usual, it has been a very busy time at Park Street! Last week, we had a Local Authority visit, the first for over 14 months. The outcome was very positive – I would like to share with the comments included in the immediate response from Sue Bowman, our School Improvement Partner:
“The culture and atmosphere in the school was lovely. Classes felt warm and inviting, and the children we say were happy and engaged in their learning. Displays were consistently of a high quality. It was a pleasure to walk around the school and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone.”
I have included some photographs of our current displays, as we are still unfortunately unable to invite everybody in to see them. All the staff work hard to keep these relevant to the children’s learning, and reflective of their achievements at all times, not just for special visitors! We all look forward to the time when we can have open days again!
Eagle Class also went on the first school trip for a very long time – to West Stow Anglo Saxon Village. They had a wonderful time and learned a great deal by experiencing the living conditions of the people about whom they have been learning this term. It was amazing to have the opportunity to handle some authentic artefacts, and to listen to an expert explain aspects of their lives and answer the children’s questions. Please see the photographs below.
Today we are having a special ‘Maths Day’. I have just looked around and seen breadmaking after working out a ratio for ingredients, building structures with spaghetti and marshmallows, an escape room, working out the size of a giant from her ‘lip print’ and plenty of other practical problem solving. Fantastic learning for a Monday morning! Please see the photographs below.
I hope you all have a wonderful half-term holiday, when it comes – we all have our fingers crossed for good weather!
Best wishes,
Sarah
