Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Park Street after what I hope has been a lovely half-term break. Finally we have some good weather to enjoy! Collective Worship is now on Jesus Green four times per week, which is working really well. It is wonderful to be able to get the whole school together for this. Today, the children shared learning they have enjoyed this week – from angles and measuring in maths, to inference about character’s feelings in English. Owl Class are enjoying reading ‘Lucy and Tom at the Seaside’, Robins are studying ‘The Secret of Black Rock’ and Woodpeckers are reading ‘Whales Song’ – all making me miss the seaside!
We had a ‘School Council’ meeting on Wednesday – it was very interesting hearing the children’s ideas about areas for improvement. I was really pleased to hear that the children all feel safe at Park Street, and know adults to go to if they have any problems or worries. The Council would like to raise some money to help homeless people. I am arranging a visit from the organiser of Cambridge Churches Homeless Project, to talk about their work. Hari has suggested compiling a children’s quiz to raise some money for them. Please see the report from the Councillors, on this page, for more information.
The teachers are busy planning trips and activities for all the classes for our ‘Enrichment Week’, which will mostly be taking place in the week beginning 5th July. Eagle Class trip to Grafham Water was not able to be booked for that week, so will take place on 16th July. Please look out for emails about activities planned. Unfortunately, we are having to charge for some of these. Please let us know if you have any difficulties with this.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we are expecting the school to be full in September. If you are intending to leave, please could I ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can plan the classes for September. As I said before, we are really happy if you all want to stay!
Best wishes,
Sarah
